SONJA CAIRNS- ARTIST
I was born in Daylesford, Victoria. Now living in the unique town of Lightning Ridge where I manage and own a Bed & Breakfast and in my spare time paint. My interest in art has followed me in life. Ranging from art at school in Melbourne to acquiring a Teachers Certificate in Ikebana- Japanese Floral Art on the Sunshine Coast in Noosa. Working with flowers gave me inspiration for some of my art work now. Completing a course in Interior Design has also helped me with my appreciation of colour, form, texture, and space. But Lightning Ridge is where I have been fortunate enough to be taught Classical European fine art by a teacher who was trained in Paris. There is so much light and colour in the Outback. I just love colour. I have exhibited my work at the Arts & Craft in Lightning Ridge where I have won first prize for one of my art works. I have also exhibited my art at the Walgett Show and now have my own Studio at the Bed and Breakfast.
